Donations update
09.02.2005
The American Red Cross Shelter located at the Student Recreation Center has asked that NO MORE donations be brought to the Student Rec. They have been overwhelmed by the huge hearts of the Tuscaloosa community and all needs have been met for the next week. There are alternate drop-off locations listed here.
MEAL HELP
The Salvation Army still needs volunteers to cook and deliver meals.
The shifts are from 10 - 2 p.m. for lunch and 3 - 7 p.m. for dinner. Fifty people are needed to cook, serve, clean up, etc. for each meal shift each day. To sign up to work during the meal shifts, come to the Volunteer table.
When you arrive to work a meal shift, go to the mobile Salvation Army truck in the parking lot behind the Student Recreation Center (near the outdoor pool). You do not need to check in inside the building.
GENERAL ASSISTANCE
The American Red Cross needs volunteers to help in the temporary shelter at the Student Recreation Center. There are shifts from 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m.
everyday throughout the weekend. To sign up, please come to the Volunteer Services table at the Student Recreation Center.
CHILDREN¹S ACTIVITIES
Volunteers are needed for childcare, including playing games with children, arts and crafts, etc. Also, groups are encouraged to set up a time to present programs, play games, dance or simply interact with the children. Go to the Volunteer table at the Student Recreation Center to schedule a time.
NOTICE: Community groups who wish to coordinate special programs for hurricane evacuees may notify the Community Service Center at 348-2865 of your plans which will be communicated to the appropriate agencies. Based on agency and evacuee needs, agency representatives will determine if programs are beneficial at that time.
